R-EVOLVE X - FAQ's

Hopefully below you will find the answer to any questions you may have regarding R-EVOLVE X and its application. If you cannot find what you are looking for then please email us at info@revolvex.co.uk and once answered we will add it to the FAQ to help others.

Is R-EVOLVE X difficult to apply?

No not at all. If you follow the instructions on the website, it will be quite straightforward. The main thing is to not cover too large an area before buffing. The more spokes and complicated design then the smaller the area to be worked before moving along. The reason is that it is a coating with a high solids content so will flash off a lot quicker than a bodywork coating.

Can I apply more than one coat?

Yes, you can. However, you will need to do it within 20 minutes of starting the first coat. R-EVOLVE Xwill start to air cure very quickly and this will activate the ‘self-repellency’ of the coating. In short it won’t allow another layer to stick to it once this time has passed.

How long do I have to wait before R-EVOLVE X is weatherproof?

Generally, the coating will be weatherproof within a few hours. Applying gentle heat through a heater, hairdryer etc will help with this.

How long before I can clean my wheels after applying R-EVOLVE X?

We always advise leaving the wheels for 5-7 days before washing them with chemicals.

My wheels aren’t beading when I wash them. Has the coating worn off?

This is highly doubtful if the correct prep and application methods have been used. Even if a coating stops beading it doesn’t mean it isn’t there still. It is more than likely down to a couple of factors which are easily dealt with….

  • Wheels live in an extremely harsh environment and over time the coating can become ‘clogged’. In most circumstances a lightly acidic wash solution can rectify this.
  • Wheels over time will also pick up contaminants from the braking system and a small amount may stick to the coating. In this case you will not see beading because the surface tension has been disrupted. When this happens a simple decontamination wash with an iron fallout remover and/or alkaline wheel cleaner can rectify this with ease.

“I have some product left over from 6/12 months ago. Can I use it on another set of wheels or does it go off?”

As long as the screw cap was tightly reapplied after use and the bottle stored correctly then it should be perfectly fine. Also check the liquid inside the bottle hasn’t crystallized. It is however perfectly normal to find some crystallization around the neck where the screw cap fits on due to moisture and air curing it in that area. Just wipe clean before use.

Can i use R-EVOLVE X on Matte wheel finishes?

Yes you can. However we do have a dedicated MATTE version for these. If however you decide to use the 'gloss' version i recommend working small areas and buffing immediately before moving on to the next section. You wont get a 'gloss' finish but on dark colours such as greys etc you will notice a deepening/darkening effect of the colour. Also matte finish wheels will not display the same hydrophobic properties of a gloss finished wheel due to the surface being microscopically 'rough' due to the matting agents in the powder coat/painted finish. But rest assured the protection will be there for an awfully long time.
